I painted that picture. Are you impressed?
Somewhere in the middle of an intense, busy work week I took a deep breath, slowed down, and stopped into Living Social for a watercolor painting class with painter and author Marcella Kriebel. Marcella's cookbook, Latina Comida, is a collection of recipes she learned to make while traveling around Latin America.Instead of a suitcase full of trinkets her wanderlust produced an intimate account of cooking with the locals, eating mofungo, and shopping the markets for plaintains and cilantro. Each recipe in the book is brought to life with a gorgeous watercolor painting
Marcella published her book on her own, using dough raised from kick starter. How impressive is that? I'm inspired. She is a super talented and a lovely person. You can buy the book here (and you should).
After the class I went with some friends to District Taco. The tacos were tasty.
I am loving all the new (ish) taco shops opening up around DC. All we need now is the tamale man to visit bars late night. (Of course, I don't really go to bars anymore, but, HEY, young people, I'm pulling for you).
