If I had to name my top ten places to spend a Sunday morning, Pike Place Market in Seattle would totally be on the list. On a recent trip to Seattle I had a few hours to kill before meeting up with some friends for brunch, so I walked a few blocks from my hotel room up the hill to the market. Imagine how difficult it is at 8am, knowing that you are meeting people for brunch at noon, but are currently walking past some of the best bites in Seattle. Like I'm going to walk by these jars of honey without taking a little taste. And, oh, look, there's Mee Sum Pastry and they just lifted fresh crab rangoon out of the fryer.
I love crab rangoon. It's a treat that I don't often let myself have, but at Mee Sum Pastry they sell them one for $2.29, which initially seemed a little steep, but after I took a bite my dollar sign apprehension was completely overwhelmed by the yummy signals my stomach was sending my brain. Yummy, yummy, yummmmmmmy.
Oh dear pork buns, please don't be offended I didn't choose you. I'll see you next time......
What's next? An entire case of savory jellies? I can try all of them with these little wooden sticks? But wood touching my tongue is one of my top ten causes for a freak out (I can't even watch someone eating a popsicle). Well, I guess I'll have to buy a jelly for $7.50 !!!!! and pack it up in my suitcase. Look out for TSA that jelly is liquid gold.
Oh dear, it's 10:30 and I'm at Bleecher's. Is it too early for macaroni and cheese? I don't think so, my friends. My friends. Right, I'm suppose to meet them for brunch in a few hours.
Chipotle curds? Put these on the next time list. And these candy apples too!
So what's the best thing you have ever eaten at Pike Place Market - or any market, for that matter.
