My seedlings, the kale, swiss chard, Japanese eggplant, and Asian peppers, stopped growing. One day they said, we're not really into this: we're going to give up. Then they did. I think it was lack of light rather than a lack of motivation.
For now, mostly because I just moved into a new house, and because we are planning a wedding that's in two weeks (gasps for air!), I decided to down grade my gardening ambitions to a container garden. For now.
Here's the great thing about a container garden: you can move it. So if you don't have enough light or it looks like it's going to pour cats and dogs, just move it under the ledge, or inside for that matter.
Like, for example, on Saturday night it was raining hard. Really hard. So hard that the tap tap on my roof woke me up. My first thought: oh my garden! At 2:30 am I poked Marcus awake. "You want me to do what?" Yes, Marcus, I want you to go outside and move my garden. He did. And that's one of the reasons I'm marrying this guy.
In other non-nauseating news, yes, you can grow strawberries in a pot. I'm not sure if this strawberry will eventually be joined by strawberries. We'll see. For now it makes me insanely happy. I might put it on top of some chocolate ice cream and serve it to Marcus as a thank you for rescuing my container garden from the biblical down pour.
